An oldie but goodie

I came across this shot tonight and had to post it. It is one of my favorite shots that I have taken with my camera. My husband Jonathon, myself and at the time our very young only child Abigail woke up early to catch the sunrrise over at Aldergrove Park. I had no idea how to really use my camera then. I would just shoot in all the automatic modes but even then I loved taking photos and that was the reason why we went.

They braved the storm

I had my first photo shoot yesterday. Leading up to the shoot we were praying hard that the weather would let up for us for the shoot. It started out dreary but about half way into it the sun actually started to peak through the clouds! Thank you Lord!

I got some great shots but I also learnt a lot. It is amazing how much you have to think about, aperture, ISO, positions, adamant objects, peoples faces. Wow. It made me excited to see how much I will grow with time and improve. I also learned how much I LOVE taking photos. It was a blast and it didn't hurt that the family was in high spirits considering the elements we were against for the first little while. It wasn't only wet, raining but cold and I love how many photos I got with goofy faces and huge smiles regardless of all that.

It was hard picking a few of my favorites to post. I hope the family and you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them!

Blessings,
Shannon

Adventures with Jesse

Meet Jesse, "she's the world's best cowgirl ever" according to my Abigail. Abigail LOVES Toy Story. She could watch it 4x's a day if I ever let her which is not likely to happen any time soon. For Christmas she received this Jesse doll and now she comes every where with us.

Last Tuesday I really wanted to check out a local location where I am going to do an up and coming engagement shoot which I am so excited about. I did not feel like going alone so we packed up the kiddos and off we went. After we did some exploring and I took some pictures we were spent. It  was one of those times when you thought about going home and cooking made you cringe..lol. Luckily we received a gift card to some select restaurants (was supposed to be for a date night) and ended up at Montana's. It was an amazing dinner and little did we know that Tuesday is "Kids eat free day!!" SCORE!

Since I am wanting to specialize in birth photography I thought inside the restaurant would be the perfect place to practice in low light. I got this brilliant idea for "Adventures with Jesse." I know that my daughter will appreciate this much more than anyone else but it'll be a fun little thing to do I hope you have a little laugh as well. When ever we are out with Jesse I'm going to take a picture of her doing silly things or hanging out. So without further ado here is Jesse's first adventure, dinner at Montana's.
Jesse enjoying some Pepsi. Yee haw!

"while the sun drinks up the dew"

It has been stunning out this past week. It made me want to shout "For this is the day the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad in it!" Does life not seem much better when we are thankful for it? This is something that I am trying to do daily even in the rain. A book that has pointed this out to me is "One thousands gifts" by Ann Voskamp. If you have not heard of it check it out and I would highly recommend reading it.
My favorite time of day is at the brink of sunrise till it fully rises. Life is quite at first everything is just starting to wake. The sun rises slowly warming the earth and creation declaring the day as arrived. I just love it!
I was feeling especially inspired the other morning to get out and shoot. I once again bundled up the kiddos, this time choosing the double stroller, threw my trusty steed (my camera) over my shoulder and bared the morning frost. Here are some of the shots I was able to capture. It would have been great if I had a macro lens but I was still happy with what I got. To see the full album click here. Oh and one last thing my blog title don’t you love it?! I got it from the classic, “Jane Eyre” What a lovely book I also would recommend reading it!

Introducing Oreo. This is my moms boyfriends dog. The first time I met her I thought she was the uglyest dog i've ever seen but she's grown on me. For Christmas my mom wanted to get some photos for her boyfriend of Oreo seeing how she is such an old lady. This is our little mini session.

We finally ended up getting Abigail her first haircut about a month ago. She was no emotion the entire time until we busted out her favorite blankie, "tiggie" at the end. That is when you see her trying not to smile but just cannot help it by the end! Thanks "tiggie" you did us proud and so did you Abby of course!!

I'm doing a family shoot next week and it's been said to scope out your location before hand at the time you would like to shoot at to make sure you are prepared. Since I think being prepared makes for a better shoot I headed over to the location spot and not only got some great ideas for the upcoming shoot but was able to capture a little bit of God's glorious creation.

Here are some photos that I have taken over the last few weeks. The ones with Abigail and the stickers on her face I just had to share. We let her do her crafts and then she comes over to me a little while later and stats, "Aren't I pretty mom." What a goofball!
